How to become the leader of choice
How do I become the leader of choice?
I have received so many e-mails lately from many talented leaders expressing their desire to become “the leader everyone wants to work with,” to become a leader of choice.
I have spent so much time researching to find the formula for leaders to really make a huge difference with their staff. Not easy yet, so worth it.
The leap into the next level of business excellence definitely depends upon sculpting a workforce that wants to unleash its full potential and play to win as a team, not just a group of individuals who want the glory for themselves.
How to become the leader of choice
The leader of choice is first and foremost a visionary. And that is where we start without new on-line Total Leadership Connections Program Level 1.
I’d like to retell a story here about one of the TLC graduates who was willing to take a risk and be a visionary leader who “dared to do it differently.”
Rob heard the folks in the shipping department of his organization always complaining that the “big shots got to go to offsite team meetings, yet they were never included for a break from the daily grind.”
He decided to send them for a day of learning and fun. Most of his leadership team rolled their eyes thinking this would be a waste of time and money.
As he tells it, “At first I didn’t see any ROI. Oh sure, for a few days the 10 employees in shipping were smiling and friendlier with each other, and then the usual complaints began again about who did what and what was fair.
“Except” Rob looked around with an air of just hitting a home run, “Except, I was called into a meeting with the shippers who had a sketch of a safer and more efficient way to move their product through the warehouse. They said, and I quote “we want to be part of the solution to have less damage and a more effective way to get our stuff out the door. And we got these ideas from the day away you set up for us.”
There you have it in a nutshell…how to become the leader of choice isn’t difficult, you just need the desire and the right roadmap to get you there.
Visionary leadership means “dare to do it differently.”
Best,
Sylvia
